Monitoring effectiveness
The standards governing surface disinfection are very strict.
In the field of automated airborne surface disinfection, there are two types of standards.
The so-called Biocides Standards
These are the studies that confirm the efficacy of the disinfectant against a specific pathogenic strain in a specific environment. They confirm that the disinfectant is effective. However, this is not enough to guarantee effective disinfection. Indeed, if the device that dispenses an effective disinfectant fails to break the liquid down properly into micro-particles – thereby preventing it from becoming properly suspended in the air and covering all surfaces – then the disinfection process will be incomplete and ineffective.
The efficiency standard for the ‘Device/Product’ pair
This is the standard that validates the effectiveness of the airborne disinfection process. Compliance with this standard is essential as it is mandatory. It must be required of all manufacturers of automatic surface disinfection solutions. It guarantees that disinfection is thorough and reproducible. This standard validates the combination of device and product, meaning that the device delivers certain and reliable disinfection using an effective disinfectant.
